Permit Documents for Sunrise Wind, LLC's Offshore Wind Energy Development Project
EPA's April 15, 2024 Final Permit
On April 15,2024, EPA issued the final preconstruction permit for the proposed construction of Sunrise Wind, LLC's offshore windfarm on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The EPA considered all public comments submitted during the public comment period in its final decision-making process. EPA has prepared a Response to Comments document which describes and responds to all significant comments on the draft permit raised during the public comment period and/or public hearing. The Response to Comments documents also specifies provisions, if any, of the draft permit which have been changed in the final permit decision, and the reasons for the change.

EPA's December 19, 2023 Draft Outer Continental Shelf Air Permit for the Sunrise Wind Project
On August 17, 2022, Sunrise Wind, LLC submitted to EPA Region 1 (EPA) an initial application requesting a Clean Air Act (CAA) permit under Section 328 of the CAA for the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm, including export cables, on the outer continental shelf. Once operational, the project has an estimated maximum production capacity of 1,034 megawatts of renewable energy. On February 24, 2023, Sunrise Wind submitted a revised application which EPA determined was administratively complete on March 21, 2023. The EPA is proposing a draft permit that will contain the applicable requirements under 40 C.F.R. part 55.
