Summary: EPA’s Office of Radiation and Indoor Air is announcing the availability of funds and soliciting applications from eligible entities to advance national policy or systems-level change to reduce indoor air risks and yield measurable environmental and public health outcomes. The EPA has identified and characterized significant risks to public health from indoor environmental contaminants that are commonly found in homes, schools, and offices or commercial non-industrial buildings where Americans spend up to 90 percent of their time. Levels of air pollution indoors are often two to five times higher, and occasionally 100 times higher than outdoor levels. The total estimated funding for this competitive opportunity is approximately $1,000,000 annually. Funded projects will have up to a 3-year project period. Individual awards are expected to range from $75,000 to $200,000 annually. EPA anticipates awarding approximately 3-7 cooperative agreements from this announcement, subject to availability of funds, the quality of applications received, and other applicable considerations.
