When BioPreferred® – Federal Purchasing (FP) and CPG are both required, the agency shall purchase the item that meets the CPG requirements (per FAR 23.405 Procedures (c) and Farm Security and Rural Investment Act, Section 9002 (b)).
To the maximum extent practicable, products and services provided through the contract shall be certified to the following applicable multi-attribute standard/ecolabel.
- Association for Contract Textiles NSF/ANSI 336: Sustainability Assessment for Commercial Furnishings Fabric (note: this standard has low supplier availability)
- Additional Specifications:
- Products shall meet the emissions requirements of BIFMA e3 criterion 7.6.2, or equivalent.

Upholstered products shall meet Technical Bulletin 117-2013 (California's furniture flammability standard) and must comply with the labeling requirements of California Senate Bill 1019, which was passed on September 30, 2014, and requires a label indicating whether the product contains or does not contain added flame retardants.

- BIFMA e3 2019 – Furniture Sustainability Standard - level® certified
- Products shall meet the emissions requirements of BIFMA e3 criterion 7.6.2, or equivalent.

Upholstered products shall meet Technical Bulletin 117-2013 (California's furniture flammability standard) and must comply with the labeling requirements of California Senate Bill 1019, which was passed on September 30, 2014, and requires a label indicating whether the product contains or does not contain added flame retardants.
- Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard
- When using Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard Bronze or Silver level, products shall meet the emissions requirements of BIFMA e3 criterion 7.6.2, or equivalent.
- Upholstered products shall meet Technical Bulletin 117-2013 (California's furniture flammability standard) and must comply with the labeling requirements of California Senate Bill 1019, which was passed on September 30, 2014, and requires a label indicating whether the product contains or does not contain added flame retardants.
- Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) Furniture, Fittings, and Foam
- Upholstered products shall meet Technical Bulletin 117-2013 (California's furniture flammability standard) and must comply with the labeling requirements of California Senate Bill 1019, which was passed on September 30, 2014, and requires a label indicating whether the product contains or does not contain added flame retardants.
- TUV Rheinland® Green Product Mark (note: this standard has zero certified products in this category)

Optional model language:
Purchasers may use the following language to encourage suppliers to provide products that restrict or eliminate Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).
