Public Notice: Windom Dump Five-Year Review in Progress
Summary
Seventh Five-Year Review in Progress
The EPA is conducting a five-year review of the Windom Dump site located on 13th Street south of Cottonwood Lake in Windom, Minnesota. The Superfund law requires regular checkups of sites that have been cleaned up – with waste managed on-site – to make sure the cleanup continues to protect people and the environment. This is the seventh five-year review of this site.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) issued a record of decision that included installing a cap over the landfill and a groundwater extraction and treatment system. The system continues to operate. The site was deleted from the Superfund list in 2000.
More information is available by calling MPCA at 800-657-3864 and at the Windom Dump EPA webpage. The review is expected to be completed in April 2025.
The five-year review is an opportunity for you to tell EPA about site conditions and any concerns you have.
