EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin Visits Flint and Ann Arbor

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, February 20, 2025, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin traveled to Flint, Michigan, to visit with community members, tour the new water infrastructure, and hear firsthand about Flint’s recovery.
“The Flint community has been working hard in close partnership with EPA, state officials and others to ensure the safety of their drinking water supply. EPA remains fully engaged as the community completes massive strides towards a stronger future,” said Administrator Zeldin.
Following his visit to Flint, Administrator Zeldin traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to tour EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL) and meet with EPA staff. The NVFEL provides emission testing for automobiles, heavy duty engines, nonroad engines for rulemaking, enforcement actions, and more.
“Seeing the work NVFEL does up close was a great experience. As I continue to travel around our country and meet with EPA staff, one thing remains constant; they are passionately committed to our core mission of bringing clean air, land, and water to all Americans,” continued Administrator Zeldin.
Administrator Zeldin finished the day participating in a roundtable with Michigan businesses leaders and representatives from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce to discuss how the Powering the Great American Comeback initiative will benefit the Great Lakes State.
“The Michigan Chamber and our members of all sizes and industries are very pleased to have Administrator Zeldin in Michigan and help underscore what the Great Lakes State is all about,” said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Jim Holcomb. “We fully support his efforts to advance the EPA’s core mission of safeguarding human health and the environment and stand ready to work collaboratively with he and his team to foster environmental stewardship guided by sound science and commonsense policies – not social engineering activism or extremism – and that ensures clean air, water and land along with economic prosperity for all.”
