For Release: April 20, 2018
Mosquito season is almost upon us. EPA is hosting two webinars about how integrated pest management technology can assist with mosquito management in your community:
- Apr. 24: Using GIS to Improve Integrated Mosquito Management. This webinar will describe how using GIS and other mapping platforms can improve your community’s mosquito abatement efforts. Presenters will be Mr. Chris Fredregill, Field Operations Manager for the Harris County (Texas) Public Health Mosquito and Vector Control Division, and Mr. Kenneth McPherson, Integrated Pest Management Coordinator for EPA Region 6 in Dallas.
- May 1: Pesticide Resistance Testing to Improve Mosquito Management. EPA will explain how pesticide resistance testing can help your local health department or mosquito control district make mosquito management decisions and improve abatement success. Presenters will be Dr. Janet McAllister, Research Entomologist with CDC’s Division of Vector-Borne Diseases, and Mr. Kenneth McPherson, EPA Region 6.
Both webinars will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern and conclude with a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the expert presenters.
