2018 PFAS Community Engagement

In the weeks following the 2018 PFAS National Leadership Summit, EPA conducted events with communities impacted by PFAS. By visiting impacted communities, EPA heard directly from the public on how to best help states and communities facing this issue. Using information from the National Leadership Summit, community engagements, and public input provided by the docket, EPA developed a PFAS Action Plan.

EPA coordinated closely with the states and local communities to plan and select each of the PFAS Community Engagement events below. Those that were unable to attend a Community Engagement had the opportunity to submit written comments in the public docket, found at http://www.regulations.gov Docket ID No. EPA-OW-2018-0270. The docket is now closed.

New England PFAS Community Engagement Sessions

Exeter, New Hampshire (June 25-26, 2018)

The New England Community Engagement event consisted of two sessions - a public listening session and PFAS working session - to hear from the public; provide tools to assist states, tribes, and local communities in addressing challenges with PFAS in the environment; and understand ways EPA can best support the work that's being done at the state, local, and tribal level.

Pennsylvania PFAS Community Engagement Sessions

Horsham, Pennsylvania (July 25, 2018)

The Pennsylvania Community Engagement event consisted of a morning working session and and evening public listening session to hear from the public.

Colorado PFAS Community Engagement Sessions

Colorado Springs, Colorado (August 7-8, 2018)

The Colorado Community Engagement event included presentations from federal, state, and local organizations followed by a public listening session in the evening. It also consisted of a second day morning working session.
