Federal Guidance Report No. 9: Radiation Protection Guidance For Diagnostic X Rays

This 1976 report includes discussions on the scope of the problem, prescription of x-ray studies, equipment, technic, dental radiography, and recommendations that are appropriate for guidance to Federal agencies. This report and its companion, "Background Report: Recommendations on Guidance for Diagnostic X-Ray Studies in Federal Health Care Facilities," have been superseded by Federal Guidance Report No. 14, "Radiation Protection Guidance for Diagnostic and Interventional X-Ray Procedures."

This document shares the guidance developed by the Interagency Working Group formed by the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This Working Group was formed on July 5, 1974 to develop guidance to reduce unnecessary radiation exposures from the use of x-rays in the healing arts in Federal health care facilities.
