About Scientific Leadership
The success of the EPA's mission depends on a strong and credible foundation of science and technology, and because of this, the agency constantly strives to advance science and technological innovation. EPA's Scientific Leadership Programs provide direction and coordination for cross-agency science and science policy topics.
These programs provide leadership on cross-agency science and technology policy development and implementation to ensure the best possible use of science at the agency. These efforts are a critical part of grounding agency actions in strong and credible science.
Agencywide products, such as scientific policies, guidelines, tools and training, enhance the EPA’s ability to meet its mission of protecting human health and the environment.
EPA’s Science and Technology Policy Council
The Science and Technology Policy Council (STPC) provides coordination and leadership for addressing science and technology policy issues that go beyond regional and program boundaries. The Council is a cross-agency decision-making body made up of senior EPA leaders that oversees priority science and technology policy topics that help advance the agency’s environmental and public health mission.
The STPC focuses on issues that require high-level action and are relevant to the regional and program offices.
