Webinar: Medium and Heavy-Duty Markets Gear Up: Latest Findings from Electric Truck Demonstrations and Early Deployments
The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), a SmartWay affiliate, highlighted findings from its 2021 electric truck demonstration (Run on Less-Electric). Thirteen fleets participated in that demonstration operating electric trucks in several different U.S. markets, running routes to successfully deliver beer, wine, packages, electrical equipment, and more. Yard tractors also were part of the demonstration. NFI, a SmartWay Partner, discussed the performance and charging demand of electric trucks in its growing fleet of battery-electric vehicles. NFI has deployed electric tractors to support operations at its terminals and in its regional services. CALSTART, a national non-profit, recently joined SmartWay as an affiliate. It administers California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Project (HVIP), a point-of-sale voucher program available to qualified fleets. CALSTART addressed the opportunities and challenges in bringing electric trucks to the heavy-duty market.
