Background
The 60-acre Carolawn, Incorporated Superfund site located at 5093 Morrison Road in Fort Lawn, South Carolina. The site includes a 3-acre fenced area and an undeveloped woodland area north of the fenced area. The Lancaster & Chester Railroad and County Road 841 border the site to the south. Fishing Creek borders the site to the east. Wooded areas and agricultural land border the site to the west and north. Four residences are located approximately 1,000 yards southwest of the site and approximately 30 single-family residences are located north of the site.
