Background

The three-acre Distler Brickyard Superfund site is located in West Point, Kentucky. The site includes an area where a brick manufacturer operated from the late 1800s to the mid-1970s. Waste handling and storage practices resulted in soil and groundwater contamination.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency placed the site on the Superfund program’s National Priorities List (NPL) in 1983 because of contaminated groundwater and soil resulting from operations at the site.
