Public Notice: EPA Seeks Comment on the Preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Town of West Union for Wastewater Treatment Plant and System Upgrades​ in Doddridge County, WV

Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) invites the public to comment on its preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Town of West Union for Wastewater Treatment Plant and System Upgrades project to improve the wastewater collection system and treatment plant to adequately address increased sewage volumes and prevent discharge exceedances into Middle Island Creek.

  Summary: EPA has concluded that the environmental impacts are expected to be minimal and are also consistent with the findings and recommendations from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District (Corps) environmental review and determination. That review indicated that no adverse environmental impacts are anticipated from the project. As such, an Environmental Impact Statement will not be prepared. Through issuance of this FONSI, EPA is reaffirming the earlier FONSI determination issued by the Corps.

  Summary: The EPA reviewed environmental documentation and the EA prepared by the Corps that assessed two (2) courses of action to evaluate the effects of project implementation on environmental resources: a Proposed Action Alternative and a No Action Alternative. The EA did not identify significant effects to resources as a result of implementing the Proposed Action Alternative.
