The FTP download is not working; what do I do?
- Option 1: The FTP site is active, but some browsers are no longer supporting the ftp:// protocol. You can access the same data by replacing “ftp://newftp.epa.gov/” with “https://gaftp.epa.gov/” and keep the rest of the URL the same. The filenames you see will be shorter, but if you mouse over them you should see the full name.
- Option 2: The FTP site undergoes routine maintenance each evening (Eastern Standard Time). Try again the next morning, waiting until the next morning will allow you to access the data.
- Option 3: In addition, sometimes users have settings on their web browser that prevent access to FTP sites. Contact your computer administrator or use online resources to find a solution. On Windows®, make sure that the following is activated: Settings --> Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Advanced tab --> select “Use Web based FTP” check box and/or “Enable folder view for FTP sites”; Click “OK”; and restart your browser.
