Anaerobic Digestion Resources
The documents and webinars listed below represent EPA's research and policy regarding anaerobic digestion:
- Anaerobic Digestion and its Applications (pdf) .
- Food Waste to Energy: How Six Water Resource Recovery Facilities are Boosting Biogas Production and the Bottom Line (pdf) .
- A Manual for Developing Biogas Systems at Commercial Farms in the United States.
- Opportunities for Combined Heat and Power at Wastewater Treatment Facilities: Market Analysis and Lessons from the Field (pdf)
EPA developed the following resources to help communities and other interested parties learn more about anaerobic digestion:
- Managing and Transforming Waste Streams - A Tool for Communities - EPA developed this resource to assist communities that are interested in implementing AD projects.
- Managing Wasted Food with Anaerobic Digestion: Incentives and Innovation (Webinar) - In this EPA-hosted webinar, you will learn about federal and state initiatives supporting the anaerobic digestion of wasted food and learn from AD project developers about their innovative technologies and AD solutions to waste management.
- Waste Reduction Model (WARM) - EPA created WARM to help solid waste planners and organizations track and voluntarily report greenhouse gas emissions reductions from several different waste management practices. WARM calculates and totals GHG emissions of baseline and alternative waste management practices—including anaerobic digestion.
Below is a resource from the Center for Ecotechnology:
- "Food Waste Separation for Anaerobic Digestion Processing" - The Center for Ecotechnology developed this document as part of a series aimed at helping commercial food service providers – e.g., restaurants, hotels, corporate cafeterias, and schools – reduce the volume of organic waste disposed by their operations.
