About the Superfund CLP
Mission
The primary mission of the Contract Laboratory Program is to provide analytical data of known and documented quality to the 10 EPA Regional offices in a high quality, cost-effective, and efficient manner through its established infrastructure and procedures, experienced staff, and prescriptive analytical Statements of Work (SOWs) defining methodology, quality assurance, and analytical data reporting format.
Purpose
The CLP supports Superfund pre-listing, remedial investigations, and feasibility studies, remedial designs, remedial construction/post construction, and time critical /non-time critical removal activities. The data are used for a variety of purposes such as defining the nature and extent of contamination at Superfund sites, determining appropriate cleanup actions, determining emergency response and remedial actions, and enforcement/litigation activities. The data may also be used in all stages of hazardous waste site investigations including site inspections, Hazard Ranking System (HRS) scoring, remedial investigation/feasibility studies, and remedial design. The Superfund CLP is committed to delivering extraordinary customer service through providing standardized and flexible service offerings to assist Regions with their project needs.
Overview
The CLP provides sample scheduling, tracking, analysis, data inspection, data assessment, and invoice processing activities supported by a robust quality assurance program and established IT infrastructure. All analytical services are performed by EPA-approved contract laboratories who meet stringent requirements and standards to be a part of the CLP. Each sample processed through the CLP is properly documented to ensure sample data are technically and contractually complete and compliant, and received in a timely manner and can be used in potential Superfund enforcement actions.
