What is the EPA’s Role?
The EPA provides a wide range of expertise in water quality, marine debris, wetland restoration, and non-point source nutrient reduction to support the Deepwater Horizon Planning efforts and long-term restoration projects.
EPA has served as a Co-Implementing Trustee for several water quality, nutrient reduction, and living coastal and marine resources restoration projects.
- Upper Pascagoula Water Quality Enhancement Project
- Reducing Marine Debris Impacts on Birds and Sea Turtles
- Improve Native Habitat by Removing Marine Debris from Mississippi Barrier Islands
The Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion Project (pdf) is the largest undertaking to date supported by NRDAR funding. Use the link above to check out how EPA and its partners engaged communities throughout development of the project.
