Webinar: Innovative and Emerging Landfill Gas Energy Project Types
On September 14, 2021, LMOP hosted a webinar with two speakers providing information about innovative and emerging uses for landfill gas (LFG) as a feedstock to produce hydrogen, methanol and ethanol. The presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session.

Stewart Stewart | Chief Commercial Officer | BayoTech – Stewart leads global business development, marketing and sales. He identifies partners as part of a broader effort to bring onsite hydrogen to customers in fuel cell, energy and agriculture markets. Stewart’s career has centered on energy, sustainability and the environment, combining management consulting and entrepreneurial experience to develop winning strategies, launch new products and drive revenue.
BayoTech’s hydrogen generators can use biomethane derived from LFG as a feedstock for hydrogen production. Stewart presented how BayoTech is achieving low-cost renewable hydrogen production. By utilizing modular units in compact sizes, BayoTech units tap into co-located biogas resources to site hydrogen production at the point of end use, eliminating the cost and emissions of liquefaction and transportation.
John Baker | President | Alan Environmental, Corporate Marketing Partner of GasTechno Energy & Fuels (GEF) – John has more than 40 years of experience in studying environmental impacts of landfills and implementing new technologies for more cost-effective energy recovery and optimization of waste management. He has evaluated more than 300 innovative vendor technologies for energy production from waste, including pyrolysis, gasification and anaerobic digesters. John is also assisting his client GEF with marketing their Mini-GTL® technology and developing LFG/biogas projects to produce renewable methanol, ethanol and hydrogen.
GEF is the developer of the patented GasTechno® Mini-GTL® technology. John discussed how the GasTechno® Mini-GTL® technology produces renewable methanol, ethanol and hydrogen from LFG and anaerobic digester gas. The GasTechno® Mini-GTL® technology uses a patented direct homogenous partial oxidation process to allow for conversion of biogas into high-value liquid chemicals and fuels in a single step.
