Documents Related to the Hazardous Waste Listing of Dyes and Pigments
The nonwastewater streams generated from the production of specific dyes, pigments, food, drug and cosmetic colorants were added as listed hazardous waste, K181. The rule has a threshold level for constituents of concern (e.g., aniline levels below 9300 kg/yr) over which the waste must be managed as hazardous. In addition, waste sent for disposal in landfills meeting specific design standards is exempt from hazardous waste management.
